JOIN US ON OUR FREEDOM WALK FOR LEONARD PELTIER!

“ Our work will be unfinished until not one human being is hungry, or battered, not one single person is forced to die in war, not one innocent languishes imprisoned and no one is persecuted for his or her beliefs.”
Leonard Peltier

The LPDC and Legal team relay solely on donations and fundraising events to pay for the ongoing operational expenses of the office, legal filing fees and copying cost expenses. We are committed to continue working towards Leonard’s freedom and have developed a plan where if each one of us were to donate a contribution we can continue our fight for Leonard’s freedom.

The FBI continues with their ongoing “Ministry of Propaganda,”in their efforts to undercut Leonard’s freedom. Let us not forget their past efforts to make sure Leonard continues to serve an unjust sentence.

>Falsified Affidavits, tortured witness and withheld evidence

>On November 3, 1999, fearing President Clinton was going to grant clemency to Leonard Peltier, the FBI Agents Association, a powerful lobby of retired and active agents warned Clinton through Newspaper and radio ads that Peltier’s release would be a “ moral blow to the entire community of law enforcement professionals in the United States”

>On December 15, 2000, FBI agents marched to the White House to oppose clemency for Leonard. The Los Angeles Times described the demonstration as “an unprecedented show of political activism” by the FBI. This was an open act of intimidation by a key unit of the system’s armed enforcers. The FBI illegally used public funds to intimidate and control the judicial system.

>The legal team has discovered a 1993 FBI document in which it has put forth its strategy to insure that Leonard is never free from his illegal imprisonment

The fight for Leonard’s Freedom will go on. We at the LPDC and Legal team have developed a plan where if each one of us were to donate a contribution we can continue our fight for Leonard’s freedom. No contribution is too small! We are offering Our Freedom Walk Campaign as a viable path where we can all walk together towards Leonard’s freedom. Join us! There is a lot of work to do! Let’s show Leonard that he is not forgotten! Enough is Enough! Let those who want to keep Leonard illegally incarcerated know that we are not going away and that each one of us will walk proudly with him as we join the Freedom walk.
Let Leonard know that we are not going away and that each one of us will walk proudly with him as we join the Freedom Walk! Together we can do it, let’s bring Leonard Home!

Dear Supporters,
Leonard remains illegally incarcerated for the past 30 years even though:

>It is a proven fact that the Government Lied, fabricated evidence, and tortured witnesses
>The Government has and continues to withhold thousands of pages of exculpatory evidence
>The FBI intentionally concealed a ballistics report that showed the shell casing could not have come from the alleged murder weapon.
>The prosecutor failed to produce a single witness that could identify Leonard Peltier as the shooter
>In 2003, the 10th Circuit Court of appeals noted that much of the government’s behavior in its prosecution of Leonard Peltier was to be condemned
>The 8th Circuit Court of appeals has ruled that no one knows who shot the agents nor what role Leonard Peltier may have had.

Despite all the illegalities and constitutional violations in Leonard’s case he remains illegally incarcerated.

We, at the Leonard Pelter Defense Committee and the Legal Team ask each and every one of you to join us in our Freedom Walk for Leonard Peltier. The LPDC and the Legal team has developed a “Freedom Walk,” where together each one of us can build a path that will lead towards Leonard’s Freedom! No amount is too small. Currently the LPDC is establishing an office on the East Coast, and funds are needed for operational expenses. Our Legal Team has received documents which have provided us with information and a viable path towards Leonard’s freedom!

Our work is unfinished until Leonard is free among us. We don’t have one second, one minute to waste and we ask each and everyone of you to join us in our
Freedom Walk for LeonardPeltier!

Message from the Leonard Peltier Defense Committee

Subject: Leonard Peltier Support Groups in Canada

Greetings,

Leonard Peltier continues to serve an unfair and unjust sentence in United States Federal Prison. For over 30 years, he has remained in custody for a crime that many prominent Canadians agree, he did not commit.

The sentence Mr. Peltier received has been under review many times, and his legal team has worked to obtain appeal grounds under very adverse legal conditions, and complicit with US government intervention on many occasions.

Yet Leonard Peltier remains in custody after serving a sentence that most would deem as longer than even a guilty person would have had to endure. Leonard Peltier remains strong.

The Leonard Peltier Defense Committee (LPDC) works with Mr. Peltier on an ongoing basis to continue the fight to gain Justice and FREE this man a leader in the American Indian Movement and a spiritual symbol of oppression for Native peoples throughout North America.

The work that has been done on Leonard Peltier’s behalf in Canada has been a source of inspiration and education across this country. A difficult job that has caused many Justice advocates to renew and research the reasons why Leonard Peltier was removed from Canada to face a hostile and biased US Court system.

The fight for freedom will go on. At the request of Leonard Peltier a new effort has been launched to support and gather resources in this cause. The new effort will see local support group’s work with the Leonard Peltier Defense Committee. The Leonard Peltier Defense Committee team will maintain contact with worldwide supporters and activists. It is Leonard’s request that all support groups nationally and internationally work under the direction of Leonard Peltier Defense Committee which is presently in the process of relocating Lewisburg, Pennsylvania where Leonard is presently incarcerated at the USP Lewisburg. The Leonard Peltier Defense Committee is the direct source of contact with Leonard Peltier, his Legal Defense Team, and his supporters.

It is time to send a message to Leonard Peltier’s friends and supporters that the fight is getting stronger and that we haven’t forgotten the battle for freedom that many people take personally. Your help will make a difference.

Message from Leonard Peltier

Dear Supporters:

I want to thank each and every one of you for your continued support, prayers, letters and cards that I receive on a daily basis. You don't know how good it feels to receive the letters and cards letting me know that I have not been forgotten. A recurring question that many supporters ask me in their letters is How Can I help? I can answer that question very simply, Contact the Leonard Peltier Defense Committee either by phone, letters or email and ask the LPDC how you can best help. I can guarantee you that they will tell you that our needs our great and that we need everyone's help, whether it be in the form of a donation, writing letters of support, volunteering to work on a special project, or perhaps form a Leonard Peltier Support Group in your area. The Leonard Peltier Defense Committee is the center of communication between us. For those of you who have been with me the last 30 years, I can simply say Thank You! For those of you who are new to the struggle I also say Thank you and Welcome. Your support, thoughts and prayers keep me strong.

I recently received a letter from the Oglala Commemoration providing me with an update on the June 26 Oglala Commemoration that will be held in memory of all the victims of the Reign of Terror. The Memorial Ceremony will be held at the Cemetery followed by the Memorial Walk. I want to thank everyone for their continuing efforts and work in organizing the yearly Oglala Commemoration in memory of all the victims of the Reign of Terror. I also want to extend my congratulations to April Merrival. April is the recipient of the Leonard Peltier Honorary Scholarship Award for 2006. The Oglala Commemoration presents a Leonard Peltier Honorary Scholarship Award on a yearly basis.

I look forward to the day that I am free among you! I also look forward to hearing from you and from the LPDC that many of you have contacted them and are working together towards my freedom. For now I leave you with the following message:

" Our work will be unfinished until not one human being is hungry or battered, not one single person is forced to die in war, not one innocent languishes imprisoned and no one is persecuted for his or her beliefs."
