Mr. Worthington will only privately acknowledge misinformation in his article!

"Mr. Worthington will only privately acknowledge misinformation in his article of June 26, 2006, entitled 'Justice for Anna Mae.'"

On June 26, 2006, Leonard's attorney, Barry Bachrach, alerted Mr. Worthington that he had spread misinformation about Leonard Peltier in the above entitled article, “Justice for Anna Mae.”
In an email of that same date, Mr. Worthington wrote to Mr. Bachrach:

Barry . . . You might want to consider e-mailing this, or something like it, to the editor (www.editor@tor.sunpub.com). I think the key aspect is to alert readers that misinformation is out there, and be wary, because the Sun has been the one paper that has consistently championed Leonard's cause (look him and me up on Google). Anyway, this helps set the record straight. Sorry to have caused you problems, and I hope to be at John Boy's trial .. . Peter w.
PS have not yet received your material.
Letter to Editor of Toronto Sun, by Barry Bachrach, Attorney for Leonard Peltier
To the editor:
I represent Leonard Peltier and am writing about Peter Worthington's article in the Toronto Sun of June 26, 2006 entitled "Justice for Anna Mae." In it, Mr. Worthington wrote that in the trial of ArloLooking Cloud "it was claimed that Leonard Peltier, now 30 years in Leavenworth prison for the murder of two FBI agents on the Pine Ridge Reserve in 1975, gave orders that Anna Mae be 'executed' as a suspect informer for the FBI." This is absolutely wrong. There is no testimony in that trial, nor evidence elsewhere, that Mr. Peltier "gave orders" that Anna Mae be executed. This statement attributed to Mr. Peltier has appeared on the CBC and has run in newspapers, and is demonstrably wrong and verges on disinformation by sources that want to do Mr. Peltier harm. I trust the Sun will take note and ensure that this will not happen again, and will double-check the sources of similar allegations.

NOTE: Because Mr. Worthington and the Sun have failed to publicly retract the acknowledged error, or to in any way publicly acknowledge their error in their words, we felt it important that the acknowledgment of the error be published so the media and any other person will not repeat these libelous statements.
Very Truly Yours,
Barry Bachrach, Attorney for Leonard Peltier
