Activists Join Climate Energy Fast!

Dear Friends,

Yesterday I was going through some papers and found a statement of Leonard Peltier's written last spring. It was a very profound statement. Here's some of what he said:

"Develop who you are and remain true to your higher self and your integrity will be an inspiration to others. Show your strengths when necessary, even if it is in being gentle or humble. Do your best to find the good in all people and stand and speak up against wrong doing. Respect the earth where you stand. Many parts of Mother Earth are also held captive behind concrete and steel. Do your best to recognize inspiration from the Creator. Never be too proud to say you were wrong or too fearful to stand up for what you know is right."
Leonard Peltier

For years I've been a coordinator and participant in fasts calling for Leonard's release. This fall I'll be starting a fast in early September, a Climate Emergency Fast, as part of the mushrooming movement for climate justice and a clean energy revolution, and I hope you'll consider joining it for at least one day.

Thanks!
Ted Glick, Coordinator , US CLIMATE EMERGENCY COUNCIL

In previous years, activists around the Country joined in solidarity with Ted Glick and fasted for twelve days during October for Leonard’s freedom. The 12 day fasts held for Leonard’s freedom have been happening since 1992. This year as in previous years, Toni Zeidan Co-director for the LPDC will join Ted and others in their Climate Emergency Fast and encourages supporters to do so on Sept 4th and also on Sept 12, 2007, Leonard Peltier’s 63rd birthday. You may want to fast throughout these nine days or even longer, as some such as Ted, are doing. Please let us know your plans.

When we deprive our bodies of food we do not just carry out an action of solidarity with Leonard Peltier, deprived of freedom and held captive behind steel bars, but we also elevate our spirits, unify our minds, and bodies, and strengthen our prayers.
